Z uwagi na niejednorodny rozk\u0142ad meteoroid\u00f3w wzd\u0142u\u017c orbity komety aktywno\u015b\u0107 roju silnie fluktuuje. W 1966 roku intensywno\u015b\u0107 roju oszacowano na 144000 zjawisk na godzin\u0119. Okres aktywno\u015bci roju przypada na 6 &#8211; 30 XI. W tym roku maksimum b\u0119dzie mo\u017cna obserwowa\u0107 noc\u0105 z 17 na 18 listopada. Zenitalna cz\u0119stotliwo\u015b\u0107 godzinna waha\u0107 si\u0119 b\u0119dzie miedzy 10 a 20, a przeci\u0119tnie b\u0119dzie mo\u017cna zaobserwowa\u0107 15 meteor\u00f3w na godzin\u0119. Radiant roju Leonid\u00f3w wypada w pobli\u017cu gwiazdy&nbsp;<em>\u03b3 Leo<\/em>. Jest to druga co do wielko\u015bci gwiazda konstelacji Lwa, kt\u00f3ra oddalona jest od Ziemi o 130 lat \u015bwietlnych. Tej nocy, w konstelacji Lwa, znajdowa\u0107 si\u0119 b\u0119dzie Ksi\u0119\u017cyc w fazie malej\u0105cego sierpa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Samej obserwacji dokonujemy nie patrz\u0105c wprost na radiant, lecz maj\u0105c go nieco z boku. Nazwa \u201eLeonidy\u201d bierze si\u0119 od p\u00f3\u0142nocnej cz\u0119\u015bci gwiazdozbioru Lwa (Leo) w kt\u00f3rej znajduje si\u0119 radiant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do przeprowadzenia obserwacji nie potrzebujemy \u017cadnego instrumentu, tylko odrobiny czasu, wytrwa\u0142o\u015bci (trzeba po\u015bwi\u0119ci\u0107 cz\u0119\u015b\u0107 snu porannego) i bystrego oka.
